Calrec Redefines Broadcast Workflows at NAB 2026 with its Most Powerful Hardware, Virtual and Hybrid Audio Lineup Yet
The broadcast industry is going through a rapid evolution that's signalling a more collaborative and location-independent future for live production. To give broadcasters maximum agency to build and scale workflows to meet the demands of any project, they need more choice across their operational framework. By fully utilising resources, they drive a shift that allows teams to deploy agile technologies and adopt business models that precisely match the scale and needs of every production.
To help broadcasters fully embrace dynamic hybrid workflows, Calrec will make a major announcement that unlocks even more freedom for broadcasters adopting hybrid workflows, offering greater flexibility and choice in how they configure Calrec workflows.
Building on the company's critical hardware foundation, Calrec's compact IP-native 48-fader Argo M audio console with integrated DSP will make its US debut. Featuring up to 356 channels of internal DSP, Argo M delivers all the power, familiarity, and reliability of Calrec’s flagship Argo platform in a streamlined 24, 36 and new 48-fader footprint. Compact yet uncompromising, it maximises desk space with full-sized fader strips and intuitive controls built for the most demanding productions. Plug-and-play ST2110 and cloud connectivity gives immediate high-performance control, so broadcasters can focus on what matters most, creating outstanding content at scale.
Calrec will showcase key software updates and a feature preview at NAB 2026.
- Argo v1.4.24 provides all the acclaimed functionality of 1.4 plus operator enhancements and is available immediately.
- Type R v3.2 delivers improved Mix Minus outputs, Assist Upstand meter tiles, Off Air record contribution dialogue, and Syslog support and will be released in Q2, following NAB.
- Calrec will also be showing a new preview of Argo Offline Assist allowing offline configuration which will be available in Q4.
Virtualisation with Calrec means flexibility without compromise. Calrec’s virtualisation strategy gives broadcasters the choice and the freedom to define and scale their own infrastructure requirements across a range of hybrid workflows.
As broadcasters and content creators continue to redefine their production models adopting hybrid and remote workflows, Calrec's IP Ecosystem powered by True Control 2.0 allows users to blend on-premise infrastructure with remote operations and virtual cloud resources. By decoupling audio and video from hardware, teams can scale dynamically, orchestrate thousands of audio channels across distributed DSP environments and virtualise entire workflows.
Calrec is also bringing its award-winning 48-fader Argo S console to NAB 2026, now powered by a major software update. Designed for the most demanding live broadcast environments, Argo S pairs with an ImPulse DSP core. With enough customisable hands-on real estate to deliver control over every parameter of the audio mix, Argo S gives broadcasters everything they need to adapt without compromising resilience or precision.
Calrec will also demonstrate its award-winning 36-fader Argo Q audio mixing console paired with an ImPulse core on a True Control 2.0 network. Argo Q is Calrec’s flagship audio console, designed for premium broadcast operations that demand maximum power and precision.
Calrec will showcase its Type R modular, expandable IP mixing system, controlled by True Control 2.0. It too is designed to encourage customers to take advantage of distributed production and flexible workflows. Type R’s fully 5.1 capable IP core enables broadcasters to benefit from virtual working practices and automated broadcast workflows on a cost-effective SMPTE 2110-compliant IP backbone.
